Pro-Life Activities

Every life is sacred, from the moment of conception till natural death. As Knights of Columbus, we are called to defend the dignity of each human being at every stage and work together in building a culture of life and a civilization of love.

In the continual battle for the rights of unborn children and the elderly, Our Knights of Columbus Council, Our Mambers, and our families are all pro-life supporters helping to change hearts and strive to change laws to save lives.  We all must witness to the injustice of abortion, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia and doctor-assisted suicide. We must assist pregnant women in need, tend to the vulnerable handicapped, and care for the elderly.

Below is a listing of some activities that our council supports or participates in to help promote the culture of life.

IN OVERLAND PARK, KS THIS APRIL:

Gospel of Life Convention Returns
Stand Up for Life
Saturday, April 18, 2009

Whether you aren't sure that you agree with everything the Catholic Church teaches and want to know why it takes such counter-cultural stands, or you are resolute and want more and new information, the Gospel of Life convention is for you. Invest a day exploring and discussing how faith, reason, science and ethics work together for God's plan for life.

Co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and the Diocese of Kansas City ~ St. Joseph, the conference is set for St. Thomas Aquinas High School, in Overland Park.  In addition to workshop tracks for adults and teens, the day starts with a keynote address by Dr. Janet Smith, author and consultor to the Pontifical Council on the Family. Dr. Smith holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics at Sacred
Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Her talk will point to Creating a Culture that is Open to the Blessings of Children and Free from Contraception, Abortion, and Other Ills.

Conference registration closes on April 13. Click here to download a brochure. To register on line, click here.
